Noida, 2025: In a landmark moment for student cinema and creative education, the 124th edition of the AAFT Festival of Short Digital Films was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at Marwah Studios, Film City Noida. The prestigious event was graced by an illustrious panel of guests including renowned filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, filmmaker Nabarun Banerjee, veteran director Ashok Tyagi, BJP leader and former Election Commission Director Mohd. The festival stands as a testament to the commitment of the Asian Academy of Film & Television (AAFT) in promoting young talent in cinema. Addressing the audience, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of AAFT and founder of the festival, remarked: “Today, we break our own record. This is the only film festival in the world held four times a year, now proudly in its 124th edition. Over the years, we’ve provided a golden platform for over 3600 young directors to showcase their debut films. It’s a celebration of creativity, courage, and storytelling.”
The first day of the festival showcased eight compelling short films and music videos, including: The Final Justice by Vishal Malhotra, Nurture by Aviral Singh, The Orientation by Arjun Deb, Udd Raha Hoon Main by Vishal Malhotra, Beedijaliyle by Sanjay, Abhimanyu by Nimesh Negi and several more thought-provoking works by emerging filmmakers.
Muzaffar Ali, known for his timeless cinematic masterpieces, shared his thoughts: “Platforms like this are rare and essential. AAFT is doing a phenomenal job nurturing talent and giving voice to the next generation of storytellers.”
Mohd. Amin, BJP leader and former Director at the Election Commission of India, added: “Youth are the backbone of this country. When institutions like AAFT encourage them to express, create, and lead, they shape a better and more vibrant India.”
Nabarun Banerjee, reflecting on the changing landscape of cinema, said: “The future of filmmaking lies in short formats and digital platforms. AAFT’s consistent dedication is truly commendable.”
Film Director Ashok Tyagi lauded the quality of student films, stating: “Each film screened today reflects originality and potential. AAFT has set a benchmark in cinematic training.”
The event concluded with Dr. Sandeep Marwah honoring the dignitaries with Life Memberships of the International Film and Television Club (IFTC) and presenting them with Festival Mementos as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
The 124th AAFT Festival once again proved to be a powerful stage for young voices, stories that matter, and a future bright with cinematic promise.
