United's policy guarantees a full cash refund if you cancel any ticket within 24 hours of purchase, provided the booking was made at least seven days prior to departure. After this window, United has waived change fees for most non-Basic Economy tickets; however, non-refundable fares are issued as a Future Flight Credit. Basic Economy fares purchased for travel after February 1, 2022, are generally ineligible for changes or credits after 24 hours.
